Bosch is one of the leading manufacturers of e-bike drive systems and has been a fixed partner of CUBE in this segment since 2014. Thanks to the close cooperation between Bosch engineers, top athletes and the developers at CUBE itself, the systems are optimally integrated into the bikes and continuously developed. Both the bikes from CUBE and the Bosch drives are made in Germany.

Watt = is a unit of measurement for performance , i.e. how much energy is given by the e-bike engine per second. With the e-bike, this means: how much energy the engine delivers to advance the bike. 250 watts are the permanent performance for all e-bikes that is always provided. Depending on the strength and weight of the driver, peak values of up to 600 watts can be released across short periods of time.
Newton meter = nm is the unit for torque, i.e. the power that the e-bike engine transfers to the pedals to drive the wheel. With the e-bike, the torque describes how strongly the engine "pushes" or "pulls". The crank axis is the central pivot point around which the pedals move when you step into the pedals. The more power you practice on the crank axis, the more torque you produce. In an e-bike, the engine supports you additionally and, depending on the model, delivers between 40 and 85 Nm to torque. This effectively enhances your own kicking performance, which is particularly noticeable in climbs or demanding routes.
The Bosch Active Line is the quietest drive in the Bosch portfolio and offers harmonious support that is ideal for city traffic. Its almost silent way of working ensures a pleasant driving experience, without annoying background noises. Particularly noteworthy is the auto mode, which automatically adapts the support to the driving situation, be it with a headwind or climb, so that the driver can concentrate fully on the way.
For e-bikes with a resignation brake, the engine offers additional comfort and safety when braking. The Active Line Motor is therefore the ideal choice for everyone who is mainly on the road in the city and do not have to deal with large gradients on their daily trips.
The Bosch Performance Line offers a powerful drive that works almost silently through a sophisticated gear concept and conveys a natural driving experience. The auto mode automatically reacts to gradients or headwind and adapts the support between the modes tour and turbo without the driver having to intervene manually.
These properties make the performance line motor particularly suitable for e-bikes in the trekking area, especially since this drive has a lot more power than the Active Line motor. An innovation in the performance line is the mountain ride aid, which makes it easier to start on gradients.
The Bosch Performance Line SX, introduced in spring 2024, is a sporty engine that stands out due to its lightness and compact design. With a weight of about 2 kilograms, it is the lightest drive of Bosch and is ideal for Light e-bikes in the MTB, Gravel or Urban area. Its sensitive and reactive response enables drivers to use electrical support and still experience a sporty driving experience. The more power is invested in the pedals, the more power the engine delivers, which is particularly attractive for those who want to keep the training effect.
A special feature is the sprint mode, which with a sporty driving style with high cadence supports disproportionately supported for its own performance and reaches tops of up to 600 watt motor power. This makes the performance line SX an ideal choice for drivers who are looking for dynamic and powerful support without foregoing a natural driving experience.
The Bosch Performance Line CX of the fourth generation is considered the previous flagship among the Bosch engines and is characterized by its powerful, dynamic and intuitive support. A special function is the EMTB mode, which enables optimal control and perfect handling in the field by automatically adapting the support to the driving situation. The tour+ mode contributes to energy saving by reducing the engine power with increased cadence on a flat route, which conveys a natural driving experience and increases the range.
Via the Ebike Flow app, all driving modes can be individually adapted to personal needs, for example by increasing support in ECO mode or reducing in EMTB mode. This flexibility makes the Performance Line CX Gen4 particularly attractive for sophisticated e-mountain bikers who value a tailor-made driving experience.
The Bosch Performance Line CX of the fifth generation, new in the 2025 e-bike models, combines a decade experience and continuous further development of Bosch technology. Especially for e-bikers who are often on the road, this engine offers an ideal combination of strength, dynamics and efficiency. In EMTB mode, the engine reacts progressively to driving behavior: depending on the pedal pressure, the performance is increased. An innovation is the Extended Boost, which delivers additional thrust in tricky passages. In addition to the well -known sliding aid, the engine has a mountain ride aid, which enables a controlled start -up even in very steep areas. The Hill Hold function prevents the bike from rolling back.
The housing is provided with a magnesium powder coating that makes it particularly robust against corrosion. The noise development was minimized by optimizations in the gearbox, so that the engine runs quieter than its predecessor. In addition, it is more compact and is only screwed to two points with the frame, which facilitates integration into the bike design.
