Almost as important as the selection of the right wheel as part of a test drive on site is the coordination of the chassis. Our experts know exactly how to optimally exploit the potential of the wheel via an individual chassis adjustment. In addition to the driver's weight, the area of application, driving style and driving skills play an important role in coordination. Basically, it is important that the suspension for these personal parameters is set appropriately.
It separates the total weight, consisting of wheel and driver, into the sprung mass - frame and driver - and the unsprung mass - the wheels. Most suspension forks work according to an air-oil principle and have between 100 and 180 millimeters of travel. The air is the spring medium. The pressure is set using the valve using a pump. The oil ensures the opposite damping. Printing and train levels regulate the input or discharge speed, which can be continuously adjusted depending on the fork model.
With a fully suspended mountain bike (fully), there is a rear steam in addition to the suspension fork (see picture). Depending on the classification, this springs via an air chamber or a conventional steel spring. Both the air pressure and the preload of the spring can be set taking into account the above personal parameters. The fully also has mobility on the rear building wing over frame kinematics. Depending on the fully gate (tours, all -mountain, enduro, downhill), travel between 100 and 200 millimeters are realized.
In addition to the chassis setup, the wheels are becoming increasingly important. The width of the rim, the ripening dimension, the profile type and the tire air pressure correctly selected for the area of application are also increasingly important factors for the chassis adjustment. The goal: the best possible traction, liability and driving comfort with every soil conditions. With an optimally set chassis, a safe tire floor contact can be produced and the drive power can be implemented in acceleration and short braking routes as best as possible.
